15 Minute Story Rough Draft
When I was in high school one of my classes required me to write a 8 page research paper. We had 3 weeks to write this paper and it had to be based on an experiment in one of our science textbooks. I spent the first week thinking about what I was going to write about. I had no clue what to do with this paper. I asked all my friends and they had the same problem that I did. The instructor was not very helpful when asked so I just soldiered on, trying to come up with a way to do it. By the next week, I had pretty much given up on the assignment. My friends, who were still frustrated with their papers, continued to work on it until they had their first draft of the paper. A few days before the paper was due, the instructor let everyone know that this paper was worth 30 percent of their grades. I was shocked and desperate, and at that point, I worked the hardest that I have every worked in my life. One of my friends even helped me write a few pages by typing them for me from my notes. By week 3 everyone was turning their papers in, I still had 2 pages left to write. The paper was due by the end of the day before the teacher left the school. So, during lunch, and all my classes I fluffed my paper up with so much nonsense that I could almost immediately tell that I was going to get a D. So finally finishing my paper, 5 minutes after the last bell rang for everyone to go home. I ran as fast as I could to the teachers classroom. I stapled my paper and handed it to the teacher. Realizing that I had no more time to write, I walked home that day and made a point to never procrastinate like that again. The next day, when the teacher returned our graded papers, my paper had a A- on it. I thought it was a mistake, but happily accepted it. Later on, when I asked him about it he told me, "Hey kid, you must do good under pressure." Laughing about it, I told him, "Well, I guess my best works comes out when I'm out of time." I learned something about myself that day, but I no longer wait until theres no more time left to work on something.
