ASSIGNMENT 01, 3 Writers & 3 Stories
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
1- The Alchemist is a story about a man that leaves his home to follow a dream.
2- This story represents a part of myself I'm very proud of and hold on to dearly. I consider myself a dreamer and this book speaks to that side of me.
3- The author, Paulo Coelho, has worked on many books after The Alchemist with works as recent as 2010. http://paulocoelhoblog.com/
4- He went to law school for one year but dropped out to write.
5- He pursued writing from a young age. he was a hippie, an actor, a journalist and a theatre director before becoming a writer.
6- I have searched for a bit and have not been able to find any quotes on advice for other writers.
The Bard's Tale 2004
1- The Bard's Tale is video game about a Bard that is not your average hero, that does not intend to save the world or even help the world but instead scours the world for "Coins & Cleavage."
2- I love the story of this game because it does not try to be like all other games. It sets out to make fun of the ideas and format restrictions that most games follow.
3- While the game was worked on by a several people, the person in charge was Brian Fargo. He currently works for inXile but previously worked Interplay.
4- There is little to no information about his education, he made his first game when he was 21. He inspired to make games after receiving an apple computer when he was 15.
5- in 1983, when he was 21 he started Interplay, and years later, after many successful titles, he resigned. In 2002 he started InXile.
6- he says that aspiring game designers should know your genre! Knowledge about the world of entertainment is one of the most important things you can have.
Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor
1- A rogue is tricked into going on a grand quest.
2- The adventures and the creativity that the book has in it always capture my mind and throw me into the mix with the characters.
3- Carrie Bebris http://www.carriebebris.com/ She does freelance writing.
4- She has a masters degree in english literature.
5- She began writing supplements for Dungeons and Dragons, then eventually wrote two novels about dungeons and dragons. Eventually leading up to her writing her own novels.
6- I could not find any information on her advice for writers.
