ASSIGNMENT 04 My Children's Book Story: 1st Draft

Joey and the Evil Queen.

Joey, our main character is stuck at home bored. His parents have left for the day and hes stuck with the awful, and lazy as usual babysitter. So what does Joe do? he does what he does best and uses his imagination to go on an adventure. Suddenly, the boring house becomes a large dungeon for him and his trusty sidekick dog, Dilla to explore. They are transported to another time in history, and place. The two embark on their Journey inside the deep pits of the unknown. They hear a scream for help in the distance. "C'mon Dilla, we need to help them!"Joey declared as they approach their first obstacle, a large wall of "Junk", Joey realizes that they must figure out a way over it. Joey sets out to find a resolution while Dilla, who is easily distracted, barks at a large rock. After many loud vicious barks from this tiny pup, the large dull rock starts to move and comes to life. "Who disturbs my sleep?" asks the rock. "I'm sorry, but that was my dog Dilla." Joe says to the rock. "We are looking for a way over this wall." The rock, who annoyed by the small dogs noise, says "I can help you, but it comes with a price." The boy comes closer to the rock creature to listen. "You have to retrieve my box." "whats in the box" asks the boy, "Its none of your concern, get the box and do not open it!" The boy agrees and just as soon as he was there, the rock person was gone. An opening in the Junk wall opens and the cavalier dog runs ahead. "Dilla, wait!" The boys says, but the dog ignores the call and runs ahead. The boy then goes running after him. On the other side of the junk wall, there are all types of new and strange things that Joey sees. He sees cool little gadgets and weird animals scattered about. While on his quest, the duo come across a bridge made out of popsicle sticks and in front of the bridge is large rock. As they approach Dilla runs up to the rock and begins barking at it. After a few moments there is... nothing. They assumed there would be a rock creature, but this time it was not so. "For a Toll, I'll help you pass." says a deep omin0us voice. "Who was that?" says joe, and without delay, a troll climbs up from under the bridge, and faces the boy. "How do I know you didn't put this rock here yourself?" Joey yells, "I did" the troll responds. "Oh, well then, whats your toll, troll?" The troll ponders for a moment and asks the boy "What do you have?" The boy says, "I have a few sticks of bubble gum and 10 star stickers." The Troll comments, "I'll take the gum." After the hand off is made, the troll moves the rock aside. "Do you know where the Rock person's box is?" Joey asks the troll. "I believe the evil queen is keeping it. I don't suggest you go there though, there are just too many guards for a small boy such as yourself to take on." The troll concludes. "Well, I'm not just any boy, me and Dilla can do anything!" The boy and his dog bid farewell to the troll and begin their journey to the evil queen... To be continued.

Assignment 03 One Time I...

As 5 year old me:

One time my mommy told me not to jump on the bed. But I did it anyway.

I remember me and my best friend, who is also my cousin, were jumping on the bed. My auntie was mad about it, and she kept screaming at us to stop. So we stopped and then when she left, we started again. So then, I remember we were having fun jumping. My friend, who is also my cousin, was being crazy. She did a flip and I wanted to do a flip too. So I get on the bed and I told my friend to watch me do a flip.

After I jumped on the bed, I tried to do a flip. It was so much fun. My cousin got excited, and said that she double dog dared me to do a double flip. So I said okay and then I jumped up real high for a double flip. But I missed the bed and landed on the table. I hurt my head and it was bleeding. My Auntie came home and then my mommy came home and they were mad at me.

They made me go to the doctor and the doctor used staples on my head. My mommy told me to never jump on the bed again and I told her okay.

Assignment 02 no more time 2

When I was in high school, one of my classes required me to write a 8 page research paper. We had 3 weeks to write this paper; it had to be based on an experiment in one of our science textbooks. I spent the first week thinking about what I was going to write about. I had no clue what to do with this paper. I asked all my friends and they had the same problem that I did. The instructor was not very helpful when asked so I just soldiered on, trying to come up with a way to do it. By the next week, I had pretty much given up on the assignment. My friends, who were frustrated with their papers as well, continued to work on it until the first draft of their paper was done. A few days before the paper was due, the instructor let everyone know that this paper was worth 30 percent of their grades. I knew at that point that there was no way I would pass without doing the paper. So I worked the hardest that I have ever worked in my life. One of my friends even helped me write a few pages by typing them from my notes. By week 3, everyone was turning their papers in, but I still had two pages left to write. The paper was due by the end of the day before the teacher left the school. Therefore, during lunch, and all my classes I fluffed my paper up with so much nonsense that I could almost immediately tell that I was going to get a D. So finally finishing my paper, 5 minutes after the last bell rang for everyone to go home. I ran as fast as I could to the teacher’s classroom. I stapled my paper and handed it to the teacher. Realizing that I had no more time to write, I walked home that day and made a point to never procrastinate like that again. The next day, when the teacher returned our graded papers, my paper had a A- on it. I thought it was a mistake, but happily accepted it. Later on, when I asked him about it he told me, "Hey kid, you must do good under pressure." Laughing about it, I told him, "Well, I guess my best works comes out when I'm out of time." I learned something about myself that day, but I no longer wait until there’s no more time left to work on something.
